Pine Forest
Every town or a hill station has its own pretty little spot that pulls people from all across. Kodai too has one of these. Yes, we are talking about the enchanting Pine Forest! This is one of the most exciting Kodaikanal tourist place. Its well preserved by the government and is treated as a precious gem.
The forest attracts nature enthusiasts, photographers, and walkers in large numbers because of its thick blanket of towering pine trees. Watching the day as it passes by under the canopy of the pines is simply mind-blowing. It was in 1906 that the pine forest came into being. The man behind its creation was Mr. H.D Bryant, a forest officer. It was grown to produce timber.
The entire forest is encompassed by wild growth of magic mushrooms. The mushrooms are called Magic mushrooms because these supposedly cause hallucinations. There are a hoard of activities one can engage in, like walking and horse riding. If you’re a lover of camping by the woods, then there is an opportunity to do so here. But, you have to get prior permission from the authorities. The forest is also a hub for shooting movies.
There are two most popular pine forests in Kodai. These are known as Pine Forest 1 and 2. The first forest is nestled close to the Solar Observatory and is always crowded. The place is more commercialized than it needs to be. This is a compulsory place in the list of things to do in Kodaikanal. There are vegetable sellers that sell fresh fruits just when you enter the forest.
The other forest is positioned close to Moir Point and is comparatively less crowded. Here, you will get loads of opportunities to enjoy the surreal beauty of the place. Horse riding is another option to try out here. This is a place you can never miss to visit.
