Kodaikanal’s Moir Point is a charming viewpoint nestled coyly on Berjim Lake Road. It is a popular spot in every traveler’s sightseeing list. Apart from offering you enthralling sights of the serene environs, this spot also has a historical aspect to it. Back in 1929, Goschen Road was constructed by an engineer called Sir Thomas Moir. The point is named after him.
History of Moir Point
Here, a monument is built that gives all the info regarding Sir Thomas Moir. This Point has a rich historical past. It was here that Sir Thomas cut the first grass and built the Goschen Road. It connected the Poombarai and Kukkal villages. The point was called Fore Mile Road before 1929. The monument was erected just on the road that joined Kodai and Berjim Lake.
This spot is one of Kodai’s most jammed places as locals flock to it especially during holidays and weekends to enjoy the soothing ambiance of the nearby mountains, quaint hamlets and green trees. Many newlywed couples too frequent this spot as it allows them the freedom to spend quality time with each other in the lap of mother nature. There are a host of shops where you can buy food and snacks at affordable prices. The point remains open on all days from 10 in the morning till five in the evening.
